Our fishing tours are more likely to be named "safari" due to time and style of the tours, an incredible experience of being out in the real wilderness of hundreds of square kilometers, but on boats. Most anglers visiting this unique desert lake for the first time catch the largest freshwater fish of their lives.
  • Camel and Horse back riding. On the West bank of Luxor, within Greater Cairo, in El Gouna and Sharm El Sheikh there are several stables ready to rent out horses or camels and give riding lessons. • Along the beaches of the Red Sea and the Sinai, several hotels and resorts offer entertainment above and in the waters: Banana or Crazy boat rides, submarine and glass-bottom-boat excursions, jet-ski and water-ski (not in regions with reefs), canoeing, pedals, sailing, fishing, deep sea fishing, boat excursionsto reefs and islands for snorkeling and diving. Some of the hotels are located directly at house reefs enabling the snorkelers and diver to enjoy their hobbies right ahead from their doorstep.
  • (Kite)Surfing. Along the Red Sea area the winds blow all year around averaging forces from 4-7Bft. (75 % of the days), and the direction can vary during the day. Due to stronger high pressure in summertime the surfer can expect more high wind days. Mountain formations along the Red Sea are channeling and therefore increase the wind. Hurghada is one of the best places to learn to (kite) surf. There are three bays with the downwind one popular with windsurfers, leaving the two upwind ones with large shallow areas free for kite-surfers. There is plenty of space to practice flying the kite, body-dragging and water starting in shallow areas. This extends far enough from the beach to allow 100 m runs before getting into deeper water. There are several fine surf centers along the Red Sea and many serve the interested sportive with multilingual instructors. For example at Arabia Beach Resort, the neighboring Bel Air Beach Resort and Giftun Beach Resort, all located at Hurghada. Another 'hot spot' for surfers is the region of Dahab in South Sinai.
  • Diving has become one of the most popular leisure sports in the world. The numbers of diving fans increase every year, as does the number of diving centers in the Country. Diving introduces people to a quiet medium where different plants and animal life exist and it's an escape from the civilized and noisy world into the weightless underwater world of 3 dimensions. Diving is a sport that can be done by anyone; however, some precautions should be taken. Diving requires a certain degree of physical fitness. You do not have to be athletic, but occasional exercises will do. Nevertheless, medical examinations are required before any training/diving and the traveller should bring the doctor's certificate along!

For travellers to Egypt who do not have experience in diving the many dive centers in the country are here to give (short) training courses. For a more sophisticated level, an Advanced Diver Grade can be sought leading to an instructor level. The beaches along the Sinai-Peninsula and along the Red Sea coast are world known and famous diving spots. The climate and water temperatures are 'reef friendly' and diving is possible year round. Below you will find brief information about some of the various diving spots of Egypt but we would like to start with the most unknown though spectacular and most recent diving spot in Egypt located at the Mediterranean Sea, i.e. in Alexandria. For further information about the city and the highlights of the area, please refer to page 'Alexandria' on Spring Tours website.

The city is known for its beautiful beaches attracting mainly the locals in summer but year round visitors from all over the world. Unlike the Red Sea, Alexandria does not have beautiful coral reefs neither colorful fishes. Diving in Alexandria is a dive into history. Whole cities, palaces and boats are beneath the Alexandrian shore. Although some of the important statues of queens and kings were extracted from underwater; some 7000 monuments belonging to the Pharaonic and Roman dynasties are preserved underwater.

Amniotes City with its temples, houses, statues and enormous number of handicraft. Heraclion City witnessed the Pharaohs and Byzantic era.
Cleopatra's City dates back to 300 BC, and was build by Alexander the Great. The city features palaces, monuments and shipwrecks.
Cleopatra's Palace homes several monuments but a must is Cleopatra's royal districts & the statue of Mark Anthony. See the debris of Cleopatra's sun boat and the wreckage of a 2nd World War plane graved inside Cleopatra's palace.
Believe it, there are other spots and wrecks to be seen, ask your Spring Tours specialists for further information!

As promised above, here we go into the more classical and known dive sites showing the beauty of the Red Sea, let's start with ….
  • (North) Naama Bay: 11 km / 7 miles north of Naama Bay and reached overland is Ras Nasrani, easy diving to see Tuna and Jackfish, night dives possible. Ras Gamila is an easy and pleasant dive spot (night dives allowed). Ras Bob, another easy dive in a sheltered pot, suitable for the beginners and snorkelers. A small bay named White Knight has a well-sheltered mooring point. To be reached overland as well is Shark Bay, a well-known beach area especially fine for the beginner interested in night dives. Far, Middle and Near Garden(s), not really far but real (underwater) gardens full of corals and reefs, newcomers to the sport as well as snorkelers and (first time) night divers will be impressed here!
  • (South) Naama Bay presents nine diving spots; Sodfa is the right place to observe a wide range of corals and reefs and beginners are welcome here as well as at Tower, though here one can find a deep and narrow valley with vertical walls. It can be reached by land and is a very good spot for night dives and snorkeling. Pinkie Wall shows pink colored corals and other beautiful marine landscapes. Amphoras (remains of a 17th century shipwreck), also snorkelers will enjoy the site. Turtle Bay is a quite spot full of corals. Paradise is full of corals and reefs (easy diving and night dives), Ras Umm Sid is rich in reef fauna and forest, the right place for easy dives, night dives and the snorkelers will have fun here as well. Ras Katy and The Temple are good places for the inexperienced diver and snorkelers.
  • Ras Mohamed (see Spring Tours information 'Sinai') is a preserved area located about 30 km / 20 miles off Naama Bay accessed by land and sea. Several diving spots await the interested: Ras Zaatar is characterized with splendid walls covered with multi-colored Alcyonarians. It has no mooring and requires drift dive, same goes for Jackfish Alley featuring extraordinary marine landscape & caves. For the snorkelers Eel Garden might be the best place to observe garden eels. Observe the (whale) sharks at the same named Observatory. A must is the best-known, vast diving area of the Red Sea called Shark & Yoland Reef, known for its very beautiful & extraordinary marine environment.

Before we move to the other side of the Red Sea, please be aware that we have mentioned only few of the dive sites of the Sinai Area. Please check with your Spring Tours specialists for further information and rates. And as said, here we go to the other side of the Red Sea….. to the area of Hurghada where most of the dive sites are located close to small islands or reefs rising from the deep. Diving is normally arranged from boats in this area but few hotels feature their 'house reef' (for instance at the Arabia Beach Resort). Note that night dives are not allowed in the area!

Shaab Ali & Shaab Rock are located in the Strait of Gubal. Large reef areas characterized by its clean waters. Several wrecks with corals that cover most of its parts and sharks could be spotted here. Drift dives required. Another area for the 'wreck lover' is Abu Nahas, 4 wrecks are to be considered. Ready for another wreck surrounded by many creatures such as Napoleon and Lionfish? Shabroor Umm Kammar is considered the best diving site in the area. A big and a small island are places of interest: The area of Shedwan Island let one spot large sharks, tuna and barracuda while Umm Kammar named island features a mooring and is characterized with fringing coral reefs and many caves. Snorkelers will be happy as well as divers with Siyul Kabirah featuring black corals and few caves. And finally Umm Usk is located in the north end of Gubal Group, home of coral outcrops and reef fish. And that's not all, we at Spring Tours are looking forward to answer all other area-related questions to the interested diver!

Into Night Dives? Move on south to the area of Safaga featuring (beside best surfing possibilities) five spots named: Abu Hasheesh, Ota Tobia, Panorama Reef, Abu Helal and the Sharm El Arab region having the best of the coral formations and reef fish.
